US natural gas production is expected to accelerate in 2014. In recent
months the production was seen moving higher. After the broad recovery
recorded in October last year, production in November 2013 is expected
to spike to a record high. November saw several key pipeline expansions
that came online and debottlenecked Marcellus production. December
production, on the other hand, would likely show a large, but temporary,
drop as maintenance and well freeze-offs curtail output, according a
recent weekly report by London based Barclays.
According to Bentek, freeze-offs caused production to drop more than 2
Bcf/d at the height of the event in December. Overall, although the
extremely cold temperatures in the Rockies and the Southwest will likely
continue to curtail production in the near term, Barclays expects
production growth to accelerate later in the year.
