The projected Lithuanian liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal and the
regional LNG terminal, whose place is yet not finally clear, will not
be rivals, said Finnish President Sauli Niinisto who Tuesday is paying a
state visit to Lithuania, informs LETA/ELTA.
"There will be no damage and
no competition between these two terminals. The Lithuanian terminal of a
national level. We do not yet know where the second, regional terminal is going
to be built. I do not see any problem in this situation," President
Ninisto said in a joint press conference with Lithuanian leader Dalia Grybauskaite.
The Lithuanian president added that
the LNG terminal is will be constructed in Klaipeda is meant for the needs of
Lithuania, and, in addition to that, it will be built faster than the regional
terminal.
According to Grybauskaite, the
regional terminal will service only a few countries. She raised the idea of
having several more LNG terminals in the Baltic States.
